Mexico will honor Bono 'for his humanitarian work'

The Mexican government revealed on Thursday (20) to give the Irish singer Bono the Order of the Aztec Eagle "for his humanitarian work and as co-founder of the organization The One", that the fight against poverty.
Paul David Hewson, Christian name of Bono, will receive the award in New York City this month, said an agreement published today in the Official Gazette, the official organ of the Mexican government.
Mexico highlights "the commitment of Mr. Hewson with humanitarian causes led him to take his public image as a leader of the rock group U2 to boost campaigns for organizations such as Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Free Burma, The Chernobyl Children's Project, The One Campaign, among others. "
"International recognition and simplicity of Mr. Hewson converge on a personality who was able to transcend generations," the agreement.
Remember also that Bono was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize on three occasions (2003, 2005 and 2006) and emphasizes that "his conviction and commitment to social causes led him to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and the Social Forum Porto Alegre. "
The agreement, signed by President Felipe Calderón and the chancellor Patricia Espinosa, does not detail the exact day on which the artist will deliver the prestigious Order of the Aztec Eagle.

Watch your sunglasses Bono - Dublin Museum seeks rare U2 items for new exhibit

A NEW museum is seeking U2 memorabilia relating to the band's history for a permanent exhibition in Dublin.
Rare photographs, posters, set-lists, and T-shirts are among items sought by the Little Museum of Dublin on Stephen's Green.
The non-profit museum decided to set up a permanent U2 exhibition after a record number of visitors came to an exhibition of photographs which opened in May.
"We've had people coming from as far away as Greece and Italy. The response has been incredible," museum director Trevor White told the Irish Independent.
The former publisher believes it's high time Dublin had a museum to celebrate U2.
"We envisage a place where fans can see memorabilia from throughout U2's career. But we need help from the public" added Mr White.

U2.COM : Remastered, Reissued, Reimagined

Since 2007 some of the band's seminal albums have been born again: remastered, reimagined, reissued. Now we want your reviews of those re-released classics.

October, for example, returned in 2008 with remastered audio and a bonus CD of live tracks and rarities along with a commentary from Edge.

1991's Achtung Baby came back just last year, this time with  a raft of unreleased material; video, remixes, b-sides and documentary footage along with a second album's worth of demo and early versions of the final 1991 tracklisting.

 A quarter century after Kerrang first said of it 'This ain't mere genius, this is rock'n'roll…' , The Unforgettable Fire was remastered and rereleased in 2009 with a shedload of bonus content.

And twenty years after it's debut, The Joshua Tree came back remastered in 2007, with liner notes from Bill Flanagan, unseen photographs from Anton Corbijn and unheard material like Wave of Sorrow (Birdland) and Desert of Our Love.

We've now added a comment facility to each title which means you can add your own review to each re-release. What did it bring you that the original release didn't? U2.COM : Thrill Me

'Riddle me this, riddle me that…'

It was back and sounding fresh as ever on U2360 but maybe you'd forgotten the time Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me took the band to play in Gotham City.

With its genesis in the Zooropa recording sessions, 'Hold Me Thrill Me' turned out to be an inspired choice for the soundtrack of the1995 movie Batman Forever.  As this great find from our archives shows, Kevin Godley's animated video was also pretty special. U2.COM : All The Way From Sao Paulo

At the end of July last year, after 110 shows, the U2360° spaceship took off for the final time.

Nothing captures the vibe like the limited edition live set U22, with 22 songs from three years of shows.

But what was it like to be there on the night, from the second the band walked onstage as  'Real Thing' kicked off to the closing benediction of 'Moment of Surrender' ?

Maybe you were there and you'll never forget... maybe you wouldn't mind a reminder. 

To mark the first anniversary of the end of U2360°, this Saturday, exclusively for our U2.com subscribers, we'll be rebroadcasting the third show in Sao Paulo from April 2011.

The rebroadcast will begin at 8pm (Brazil time) on Saturday 28th July and in order to accommodate people in different time-zones, we'll play it again at 8pm (Sydney time) on Sunday July 29th and 8pm (London time) on Sunday July 29th). Bono Attends The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil

U2 front man Bono attended the 7 pm performance of The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage in Las Vegas tonight, Sunday, July 8, 2012. The musician was accompanied by his wife Ali along with family and friends. During the performance, the group sipped on vodka tonics as well as one of the show’s signature cocktails called, “Here Comes the Sun".
This was Bono’s first time seeing LOVE but is a huge Beatles fan and was seen singing and dancing along to many of the acts including “Drive my Car” and “Within You Without You.” His favorite part of the show was a scene from “A Day in the Life” when one of the show’s Volkswagen prop cars breaks apart revealing the artists underneath which he said was, “absolutely amazing.”

 While backstage after the show, Bono posed for pictures with the excited cast and playfully asked when Cirque was going to make a show based on the music of U2.
Bono and family were in town to celebrate their daughter Eve’s 21st birthday.
