Amazon Germany Lists New U2 Album

Via our friends at U2tour.de comes news that Amazon's German store has added a listing for a new U2 album. There's no title -- just a generic "new album 2011" -- but the listing shows a May 27, 2011 release date.
That may or may not be correct, but it does match up with what Paul McGuiness said last November when U2 360 arrived in New Zealand:

"We are trying very hard to use this time in New Zealand and Australia to finish an album that will be released in the spring," he said.

McGuinness said while the band were not actually recording in New Zealand, they were working hard on the finishing touches.

"It's not so much recording as editing and polishing up lyrics and trying to getting it done by the date it needs to be delivered to the record company for release in May. It's sounding great: lots of hits."

U2.COM : First Appearance in Atlantic Canada

U2 will perform at Magnetic Hill Music Festival in New Brunswick at the end of July with special guests Arcade Fire.

Live Nation Global Touring in association with Donald K Donald Events and The City of Moncton  today confirmed that U2 will come to Atlantic Canada for the first time ever.

The final North American date of the U2 360° Tour will visit Magnetic Hill Music Festival in Moncton, New Brunswick on July 30th, 2011 with very special guest Arcade Fire.

“The Moncton show is set to be the final date of the U2 360° Tour in North America and we're really looking forward to bringing this now legendary 360 production into Atlantic Canada for the first time,” says U2’s manager Paul McGuinness.

Tickets for the show go on sale to the public next Tuesday, February 8th  but U2.com subscribers can enter a special advance presale beginning this Wednesday, February 2nd (10am) and running until this Friday, Feb 4th (5pm)

All subscribers will be emailed ahead of this presale with more details and unique ticketing codes.

U2 band member's Malibu housing project hits snag

"The Edge" wants to build five ridge-top homes in the mountains above Malibu, but the California Coastal Commission staff says the project would violate state law by ruining a wild area and scarring hillsides visible from Pacific Coast Highway.

In an analysis released late Friday, the commission's staff said the 156- acre project north of Malibu's landmark pier would violate the Coastal Act in several aspects.

U2 plans summer concert in Moncton

The iconic rock band U2 will headline a music festival at Moncton's Magnetic Hill outdoor concert venue in the summer, sources have told CBC News.

Moncton's Magnetic Hill has attracted bands such as the Rolling Stones and AC/DC in the past.

Although the city won't confirm the band's involved in the summer festival, sources connected to U2 have confirmed to CBC News that the band will perform in Moncton.

The band is on track to break all-time gross record

In early April, while the group is performing somewhere in Latin America, U2's 360 tour is projected to become the highest-grossing tour off all time.

The previous record-high gross of $558 million, set by the Rolling Stones' A Bigger Bang tour of 2005-07, won't just be broken but, to quote the Stones, shattered. When U2 concludes its two-year, 110-show trek in North America in July, the 360 tour is projected to top $700 million in total gross and 7 million in attendance. The feat is even more remarkable when one considers that the band will break the record on a tour that spanned trying economic times around the globe.
