U2, Metallica, AC/DC and Rush Earn Touring Awards

On Thursday night, the Billboard Touring Awards honored the top grossing tours and the artists fronting them. U2 scored the top prize, winning both the Top Tour and Top Draw awards for their epic U2 360° Tour—a world tour that’s been ongoing since 2009 with plans to continue into next year. U2 lay claim to these awards because they had the highest box office gross and sold the most tickets worldwide between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010.
Other rockers who snagged awards at the seventh annual Billboard Touring Awards—held at New York City’s Sheraton Hotel & Towers—include AC/DC, which won the Top Boxscore Award for their three-night stay at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium. Meanwhile, Rush took home the 2010 Billboard Legends of Live award and Metallica received the Eventful Fans’ Choice Award.
Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga also swept the show, earning the Top Package Award and Breakthrough Award respectively.
