U2.COM : 'We'll Miss You. Goodnight!'
'Moncton, Hub City, where you gonna take us tonight?'
Moncton in Atlantic Canada was going to take us to the end of the world tonight, and then even further, to the end of U2360°, the most successful concert tour of all time.
Two years after opening up in Barcelona in June, 2009 tonight the band played their final show in a record-breaking tour of 110 concerts in 30 countries across 5 continents. It's been some ride and the fact it had rained all day and was moist underfoot here in Moncton was not going to stop anyone in this 75,000-strong audience making this a night to remember.

U2.com: Do you get protective of U2?
Yeah, I get protective. And I get challenging. Sometimes I’d be more radical than they would be. But we all work hard, and we’re good at what we do. If I’m working with U2 I usually end up in hospital for a week when I come home, because everything is hard core, you know?

U2 setlist - July 30, 2011 at Moncton, NB, Canada
Venue: Magnetic Hill
Opening Act(s): Carney, Arcade FireMain Set: Even Better Than The Real Thing, The Fly, Mysterious Ways, Until the End of the World, I Will Follow, Get On Your Boots, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - Ballad of Springhill, Stay, Beautiful Day - Space Oddity, Elevation, Pride, Miss Sarajevo, Zooropa, City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, I'll Go Crazy (remix) - Discotheque, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Scarlet, Walk On
Encore(s): One, Hallelujah - Where the Streets Have No Name, Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me, With or Without You, Moment of Surrender, Out of Control, 40
Comments: The U2 360 tour ends with three artists on the bill at the Magnetic Hill Music Festival in Eastern Canada. The three bands are spotted watching each other perform throughout the night. Bono sings a bit of 'The Ballad of Springhill' (AKA but incorrectly referred to as Springhill Mining Disaster sometimes) in honor of the nearby town devastated by an earthquake in 1958. It's the first time Bono's sung any of that song since 1987. The show concludes with a full-band version of 40, each member leaving the stage separately, with Larry last to go. The 360 tour ends as the most successful tour ever, grossing $736 million on sales of 7.2 million tickets. (NOTE: some snippets may be missing above and will be added as more info arrives.)

U2.COM : Until The End of the Tour
'Real Thing', The Fly, Mysterious Ways, Until The End of the World... what an unexpected set list U2360° has developed over two years and four continents. Twenty years after release the opening quartet of tracks from Achtung Baby lead us to the 1970's (I Will Follow), back to now (Get On Your Boots), to 1987 ('Still Haven't Found') and we're in 1993 (Stay) before we've even noticed the trip.
'If I could stay, then the night would give you up.
Stay, and the day would keep its trust.
Stay, and the night would be enough....'

U2 setlist - July 26, 2011 at Pittsburgh, PA
Venue: Heinz Field
Opening Act(s): InterpolMain Set: Even Better Than the Real Thing, The Fly, Mysterious Ways, Until the End of the World - Anthem, I Will Follow, Get On Your Boots, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - The Promised Land, Stay, Beautiful Day - Space Oddity, Elevation, Pride, Miss Sarajevo, Zooropa, City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo - Two Hearts Beat As One, Miss You - I'll Go Crazy (remix) - Discotheque - Psycho Killer - Life During Wartime - Please, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Scarlet, Walk On
Encore(s): One, Hallelujah - Where The Streets Have No Name, Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me, With Or Without You, Moment Of Surrender, Bad - In The Garden - Walk On The Wild Side - 40
Comments: The final 360 tour show in the US ends with a bang. First, Bono brings two fans (Matt and Melissa) on stage during With Or Without You. He announces that they've been to 60 shows together and invites them to slow dance on stage during the whole song, which they do tenderly - making an amazing moment. After Moment of Surrender, the band huddles and U2 plays Bad for Andy Rowen, whom the song was originally written about in 1984 and who is at the show tonight. Rowen is brother of Bono's Lypton Village friend Guggi (Trevor Rowen) and Peter Rowen, who's on the cover of Boy and War. With a few snippets thrown in, the song runs for almost nine minutes.

U2.COM : Springhill seeks U2 tribute to mining disaster
Moncton is not the only Maritime community planning a U2 concert this weekend as people in a small Nova Scotia community are preparing to celebrate a special connection with the iconic Irish rock band.
U2 is stopping in Moncton on Saturday for its final North American show in its 360 Tour and early projections estimate 100,000 people may attend the outdoor concert.
The concert is less than 100 kilometres from Springhill, N.S., a town of roughly 4,000 people.
U2 used to perform the "Ballad of Springhill" during the 1980s during its Joshua Tree tour. The song, which was written by folk singers Peggy Seeger and Ewan MacColl, is about the town's 1958 mining disaster.

U2.COM : 'From The Sky Down'
Twenty years after the release of 'Achtung Baby', director Davis Guggenheim's documentary 'From The Sky Down' will open the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Guggenheim (Waiting for Superman, An Inconvenient Truth, It Might Get Loud) charts this groundbreaking album with new interviews, stories and unseen footage from Berlin and Dublin. Now a key chapter in their career, Achtung Baby was, in Bono’s words, 'the sound of four men chopping down The Joshua Tree'.
'In the terrain of rock bands, implosion or explosion is seemingly inevitable, ' explains Guggenheim. 'U2 has defied the gravitational pull towards destruction, this band has endured and thrived. The movie From The Sky Down asks the question why.'
The Toronto International Film Festival® opens September 8 with the world premiere Gala Presentation of From the Sky Down, the first time in 36 years that the Festival has opened with a documentary.

U2.COM : Standing By Somalia
Ahead of Saturday night's show in Minneapolis, Bono met with representatives of the local Somali community to talk about efforts to combat famine in East Africa.
The Twin Cities hosts the biggest Somali population outside Somalia and those at the meeting included leaders of the American Refugees Committee and Neighbors for Nations as well as Somali rapper K'naan.
They discussed the famine emergency across East Africa - where the UN estimate up to 12million people need aid - and how to get that aid to the right places.
At the end of the meeting Bono said, 'This is the beginning of a conversation that is going to go on.'
Read more about the meeting here.
At the concert later that night, U2 welcomed K'naan on stage to perform a version of 'Stand By Me'. Bono went on to thank K'Naan and the Neighbours for Nations before dedicating Moment of Surrender to the '12 million souls in jeopardy tonight...'
To find out more about the situation in the Horn of Africa, go to one.org and to support the emergency appeals visit Oxfam, Concern, Save The Children or other agencies working in the region.

U2.COM - 'End Of Tour Party Starts Here'
When the night has come
'And the land is dark
'And the moon is the only light we'll see
'No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid
'Just as long as you stand, stand by me...'
One of the stand-out moments in tonight's show in Minneapolis was when Bono brought on stage the Somali rapper K'naan to join in a duet of 'Stand By Me'.
'I want to introduce you to a very special spirit.
'Showing great leadership on behalf of his country, Somalia
'Get used to his name cos your going to hear it a lot...K’naan.'

U2 setlist - July 23, 2011 at Minneapolis, MN
Venue: TCF Bank Stadium
Opening Act(s): InterpolMain Set: Even Better Than the Real Thing, The Fly, Mysterious Ways - Rain, Until the End of the World - Anthem, I Will Follow, Get On Your Boots, I Still Haven't Found, Stand By Me, Stuck in a Moment, Beautiful Day - Space Oddity, Can't Stand the Rain - Elevation, Pride, Miss Sarajevo, Zooropa, City of Blinding Lights - Singing in the Rain, Vertigo, Miss You-I'll Go Crazy (remix)-Raindrops Keep Falling-Discotheque-Life During Wartime-Psycho Killer, Please - Sunday Bloody Sunday, Scarlet, Walk On
Encore(s): One - Purple Rain, Hallelujah - Purple Rain - Where the Streets Have No Name - Singing in the Rain, Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me, With or Without You, Moment of Surrender - Singing in the Rain
Comments: Bono references the fact that at one point, Minneapolis was set to be the final show of the 360 tour, and declares that tonight is the start of the 'end of tour party'. Somali pop star K'naan, whom Bono spoke with before the show about the famine in Somalia, joins the band on stage to sing Stand By Me for the people suffering in Somalia. Bono dedicates Stuck In A Moment to Amy Winehouse, who died earlier in the day. It rains throughout the show, prompting Bono to sing rain-related snippets at almost every opportunity.

U2.COM : Out of Control in New Jersey
Give me one more chance, and you'll be satisfied.
Give me two more chances, you won't be denied.
Well my heart is where it's always been
My head is somewhere in between
Give me one more chance, let me be your lover tonight...'
When this tour began two years ago, 'Real Thing' wasn't even in the set, now it would be strange if the show didn't open with it. But nothing surprises with this band. Thirty years ago they were playing the Fast Lane, Asbury Park - before many of the 90,000 people here tonight were even a twinkle in the eye of their parents.
U2 setlist - July 20, 2011 at East Rutherford, NJ
Venue: New Meadowlands Stadium
Opening Act(s): InterpolMain Set: Even Better Than The Real Thing, The Fly, Mysterious Ways, Until the End of the World - Anthem, I Will Follow, Get On Your Boots, Magnificent, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - Promised Land, Stay - In the Wee Small Hours, Beautiful Day - Space Oddity, Elevation, Pride, Miss Sarajevo, Zooropa, City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, I'll Go Crazy (remix) - Discotheque - Psycho Killer - Life During Wartime, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Scarlet, Walk On
Encore(s): One, Hallelujah - Where the Streets Have No Name, Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me, With or Without You, Moment of Surrender, Out of Control
Comments: U2 plays two more songs than most shows and, at more than 2.5 hours long, this show is possibly the longest of the entire tour. Edge mistakenly begins to play a bit of Stuck In A Moment before realizing he should be playing Stay. Salman Rushdie is at the show. Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa are also there, but rumors of a guest appearance on stage never come to fruition. Bono dedicates Moment of Surrender to Clarence Clemons.

Venue: Ed Sullivan Theatre - Late Show w/David Letterman
Main Set: Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out OfComments: Bono and The Edge are the sole interview guests on The Late Show with David Letterman. At the end of their appearance, while talking about songwriting, Edge grabs an acoustic guitar from behind his chair and he and Bono sing 'Stuck In A Moment' from their seats next to Letterman.

U2.COM : 'A Pessimistic Optimist'
Gavin Friday has a new record out, 'catholic' - see the video of the track 'Able' below. Here's the second part of an exclusive interview with U2.com - and here's part one.
U2.com: How come?
If you’re setting up something like the 360 Tour, it’s such a phenomenally big thing. You arrive at 8am for meetings, then you’re down in the rehearsal studio, then you’re in the stadium, then you do some run-throughs, then there’s a meeting and you watch all the videos, and you’re going to bed at 4am in the morning and you’re back up at 8.

U2.COM : 'Magic Night'
The Ocean, 11 O'Clock Tick Tock, I Will Follow, An Cat Dubh, Into The Heart, Another Time Another Place... what a set list the band opened with in St Louis.
Actually, this was the one they opened with on another night in St Louis, thirty years ago when they first played here.
'Thanks for sticking with us, we've been here before,' recalled Bono. 'Unusual little venue, at the Graham Chapel, Washington University.'
He could remember the rest of the set list on that night too.
'The Cry, The Electric Co., Things To Make and Do, Stories for Boys, Boy-Girl, Out of Control, and the encore was… our big hit A Day Without Me, 11 O’Clock Tick Tock, The Ocean and I Will Follow ...again...
'That was a cool thing to dig up, so much has changed, so much has remained the same.'

'City of the love train, where are you gonna take us tonight?
Where you gonna take us on this warm summer night?'
Where you gonna take us on this warm summer night?'
About four or five songs into the show in Philly tonight, Bono recalled that the band haven't been here for some time.
'It’s been a while since we visited this great city, the city of brotherly and sisterly love, the city of Philadelphia Eagles, the city of the Philadelphia Fliers, the city of Philadelphia cheese steaks…'

'Come on now Hogtown... in the summer night…where you going to take us?
'Under the pale moon...where you going to take us?'
Tonight Toronto took us from 'Real Thing' in the 1990's to 'I Will Follow' in the 1970's, from 'Scarlet' in the 1980's to Moment of Surrender which was first played live when this tour opened over two years ago. We travelled, as usual, on the U2360° spaceship, the night flew by and in the end we were all just stars shining in the summer night - not just inside the Rogers Centre but right across the city.
'Didn’t know U2 was in town,' tweeted andrispone. 'Then I heard this ringing on my balcony that sounded like The Edge. Sure enough, the lid is open at the Dome'

U2.COM : 'Merci Montreal'
Another beautiful evening in Montreal tonight, and a festival atmosphere on site all day. With folks hanging out in the 'Fan Jam' area since noon, by the time the band took the stage there were huge chants of 'U2 U2 U2' ringing around the stadium.
'Give me one more chance, and you'll be satisfied.
Give me two more chances, you won't be denied...'
After that, nothing was going to go wrong for the people of 'la belle province' - from The Fly to 'Streets', from Mysterious Ways to Moment of Surrender.

U2.COM : 'Summertime in Soldier Field'
The only place to open this review is at the end. A quarter century, almost to the day, from the death of Greg Carroll, friend and crew member, tonight closed with a beautiful tribute.
'The moon is up and over One Tree Hill
We see the sun go down in your eyes.
You run like a river on to the sea
You run like a river runs to the sea...'
If All I Want Is You surprised everyone at the close of the Nashville show, tonight Soldier Field was equally transfixed as a song the band rarely play outside Greg's New Zealand, emerged from Moment of Surrender to end the night.
U2 setlist - July 05, 2011 at Chicago, IL
Venue: Soldier Field
Opening Act(s): InterpolMain Set: Even Better Than The Real Thing, The Fly, Mysterious Ways - Tryin To Throw Your Arms Around The World, Until the End of the World, Out Of Control, Get On Your Boots, I Still Haven't Found... - The Promised Land, Stay, Beautiful Day - Space Oddity, Elevation, Pride, Miss Sarajevo, Zooropa, City of Blinding Lights - My Kind of Town, Vertigo, I'll Go Crazy (remix) - Discotheque - Life During Wartime, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Scarlet, Walk On - Battle Hymn of the Republic
Encore(s): One, Will You Love Me Tomorrow - Where the Streets Have No Name, Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me - My Kind of Town, With or Without You, Moment of Surrender - One Tree Hill, One Tree Hill
Comments: Bono sings a bit of Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World at the end of Mysterious Ways. It's the first time that song's been sung since December 10, 1993. Bono dedicates Moment of Surrender to his former personal assistant Greg Carroll, who died 25 years ago this week. He sings a bit of it at the end of Moment, then strikes a deal with the crowd to play it in full, saying 'Here's the deal: If we screw it up really badly, you don't put it on the Internet.' The band then goes on to play a full version, much to the delight of fans at the show and online.

U2 mega-concert site construction on schedule
The outdoor stadium set to play host to the highest grossing tour in history has taken one more step closer to completion this week.
The steel construction that will hold nearly 29,000 seats is getting closer and closer to being completed as the July 30 tour date draws near.
"The steel structure is getting close to completion. The seats of aluminum still need to go up," says Patrick Wafer, superintendent for Tower Events, the company in charge of the seating provided for the Magnetic Hill concert.

U2.COM : The Wanderer in Nashville
'I went out walking under an atomic sky
Where the ground won't turn and the rain it burns
Like the tears when I said goodbye.
Yeah, I went with nothing, nothing but the thought of you.
I went wandering....'
Over two years and 100 shows we've had no shortage of surprises on this tour - from the reinvention of 'Real Thing' to the return of 'Zooropa' - but tonight we had two unexpected moments to rival them.
On a hot night in Nashville, the first time the band have played the city in thirty years, it was a spine-tingling moment as 'Still Haven't Found' ended and Bono, accompanied by Edge, segued into The Wanderer - the first performance at a U2 show of a song the band wrote for - and performed with - Johnny Cash, for their 1993 album Zooropa.
U2 setlist - July 02, 2011 at Nashville, TN
Venue: Vanderbilt Stadium
Opening Act(s): Florence and the MachineMain Set: Even Better Than The Real Thing, The Fly, Mysterious Ways, Until the End of the World, I Will Follow, Get On Your Boots, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - The Wanderer, Stay, Beautiful Day - Space Oddity, Elevation, Pride, Miss Sarajevo, Zooropa, City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, I'll Go Crazy (remix) - Discotheque - Psycho Killer - Life During Wartime, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Scarlet, Walk On - You'll Never Walk Alone
Encore(s): One, Amazing Grace - Where the Streets Have No Name, Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me, With or Without You, Moment of Surrender, All I Want Is You
Comments: U2 plays Nashville for the first time since Dec. 1981. Bono sings a bit of The Wanderer with Edge playing quietly as he sings. It's the first time the song has been sung at a proper U2 concert, and was only performed once before - November 2, 2005, as part of a TV show taping in an empty Staples Center. At the end of the show, Bono brings a blind fan on stage who wants to play a song for his wife. The fan gets Bono's new custom Fender guitar and starts playing All I Want Is You as Bono sings along. The rest of the band eventually joins in for a magical moment. When the song is over, Bono gives the fan the guitar to keep. Carrie Underwood, Michael W. Smith, OneRepublic and many other artists are at the show.
