Ghost Blues:Edge on Rory

'I was first was introduced to Rory through friends at school who would talk about their favourite band, ' explains Edge in an extended interview for the new 2-part DVD release Ghost Blues - The Story of Rory Gallagher. 'In the mid-70's the bands everyone was excited about were Thin Lizzy and Rory Gallagher.
'I wasn't even playing guitar but everyone loved Rory, he signified something for kids of my era - the Irish guitar player, up there with the greats.'

Disc One, 'Ghost Blues', follows Rory’s life from his upbringing in Cork, his early days with a showband, the brief success of Taste and then his solo career leading up to his tragic death at the age of just 47. It features archive interviews with Rory and contributions from Edge, Bob Geldof, Cameron Crowe, Slash, Ronnie Drew and Bill Wyman.

Disc Two, 'The Beat Club Sessions', shows Gallagher as live musician with 90 minutes of unreleased live performance illustrating why he inspired those who pay tribute to him in 'Ghost Blues'.

'The blues was his form ,' explains Edge, ' But there was a lyricism to his playing which was quite his own. I was drawn to his phrasing as a younger player, I found it fascinating but also accessible, it wasn't showy but had beautiful elegance to it...'
