Two very special U2-related events are taking place on Sunday October 3rd as part of The Music Show 2010, which is running throughout this coming weekend in The RDS, Dublin.
First up at 3.45pm is ‘U2 Can Have A Film Made About You’, a panel discussion about the upcoming Killing Bono movie, which will include a public premiere of footage from the movie.
Taking part are author and journalist Neil McCormick, a long-time friend and confidante of U2’s whose I Was Bono’s Doppelganger book is the inspiration for the eagerly awaited film; award-winning Director Nick Hamm, who has fashioned a brilliant movie, with fantastic hit potential, from the story of one man’s obsession with U2; and Joe Echo, the brilliant Irish songwriter who wrote and performs all of Killing Bono’s original music.
That’s immediately followed by ‘Are Producers The Real Stars? Just What Goes On In The Studio?’ Another sure to be lively debate that includes the Grammy Award-winning Steve Lillywhite among its participants. As all U2 fans will know, Lillywhite’s barnstorming production CV features a plethora of U2 albums including Boy, October, War, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb and No Line On The Horizon.
Both panels will feature an extensive Q + A session giving fans the unique opportunity to put their U2 questions to some of the people who know them best. Van Morrison and Waterboys producer and collaborator Mick Glossop and Julie Feeney – one of the brightest talents to emerge in Ireland in years and a writer and composer with a truly original artistic voice – complete the production panel.
The Music Show 2010 line-up also includes such major names as Bob Geldof, Newton Faulkner, John Robb, Minister Eamon Ryan, Paul Brady, Brian Kennedy, Mundy, U2 director Maurice Linnane, Andy Gill of Gang of Four, German DJ and producer Ellen Allien and the man behind the BBC’s music coverage (and creator of Live With Jools Holland), Mark Cooper, and many, many more.
The Live Stage is a Who’s Who of the best of contemporary Irish music, including one of Bono’s favourite vocalists Damien Dempsey, as well as Sharon Corr, Cathy Davey, Republic of Loose, Fight Like Apes, Jerry Fish and The Mudbug Club, Mick Flannery, O Emperor, and hot newcomers The Cast Of Cheers, The Brilliant Things and CODES, among others. In the latest addition to The Music Show bill, The Coronas will take some time out from working on their new album to make a special appearance on the Live Stage at the Show.
The Music Show, presented by Hot Press in association with RTE 2fm, runs from October 2nd-3rd at The RDS, Dublin.
