Bono describes World AIDS Day as hopeful
There are ceremonies around the globe on Wednesday as the world commemorates World AIDS Day.
In Sydney, Australia, U2 frontman Bono joined the country's prime minister as the famous Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge were lit up with red lights.
"The message of world AIDS Day is a message of hope," said Bono. "We will soon see an end to this dreadful little virus called HIV/AIDS."
In Southern California, several cities have events planned in honor of World AIDS Day.
In Long Beach, the Queen Mary and other landmarks will be lit with red lights.
The first Red Balloon Walk was planned for downtown.
