Rumor ?!?!?! U2 to join Coldplay and Beyonce as Glastonbury 2011 headliners

The next logical step in today’s Radiohead news bonanza is the announcement of some live performance. That could still be coming, but it won’t be in the form of a headlining appearance at this year’s Glastonbury Music Festival. Coldplay and Beyoncé have already been confirmed to close out Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Now, according to a Q Magazin, which is one of the festival’s sponsors, U2 can be marked down as Friday night’s headliner.
An official announcement is still forthcoming, but U2 have long been consider a shoe-in since being forced to cancel their Glastonbury 2010 appearance following a back injury suffered by frontman Bono. Q Magazine also reports that British alternative band Elbow will lead in to Bono and co. on Friday night.
Glastonbury, which is considered the world’s biggest music festival, generally does not reveal its lineup until weeks before the festival’s actual launch. That said, other likely acts include Fatboy Slim, Jimmy Cliff, Newton Faulkner, and The Coral.
This year’s festivities run June 22-26 in Pilton, England. Tickets have long been sold-out, but a re-sale of canceled orders is expected sometime in April.
