Mexico will honor Bono 'for his humanitarian work'

The Mexican government revealed on Thursday (20) to give the Irish singer Bono the Order of the Aztec Eagle "for his humanitarian work and as co-founder of the organization The One", that the fight against poverty.
Paul David Hewson, Christian name of Bono, will receive the award in New York City this month, said an agreement published today in the Official Gazette, the official organ of the Mexican government.
Mexico highlights "the commitment of Mr. Hewson with humanitarian causes led him to take his public image as a leader of the rock group U2 to boost campaigns for organizations such as Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Free Burma, The Chernobyl Children's Project, The One Campaign, among others. "
"International recognition and simplicity of Mr. Hewson converge on a personality who was able to transcend generations," the agreement.
Remember also that Bono was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize on three occasions (2003, 2005 and 2006) and emphasizes that "his conviction and commitment to social causes led him to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and the Social Forum Porto Alegre. "
The agreement, signed by President Felipe Calderón and the chancellor Patricia Espinosa, does not detail the exact day on which the artist will deliver the prestigious Order of the Aztec Eagle.
