70,000 to fill CT stadium for U2

More than 70,000 people will pack Cape Town Stadium to see legendary Irish rockers U2 when the band tours South Africa for the second time next year.

The band has been here once before in 1998 for their PopMart tour and return to play in South Africa in February 2011.

John Langford from the organisers Big Concerts said they have been making plans to gets more concert-goers packed into the Cape Town venue.

“We’re using the field, which is additional capacity. A field can typically handle anywhere from 15- to 20,000 people. We’ve got a 101,000 people planned for Johannesburg,” he added.
